The Department of Education’s National Science and Technology Fair (NSTF), the nation’s largest pre-college science competition, annually provides a forum for more than 3,000 high school students from the 17 regions of Philippines to showcase their independent research in science, technology and engineering.
NSTF aims to encourage high school students to produce research projects in science, technology and mathematics that may address various problems and concerns of the country. The rigorous national competition encourages Filipino students to tackle scientific questions though authentic research practices. All entries must have won in the bottom level competitions namely school, division and regional level fairs before they qualify in the national level competition. The finalists of NSTF will have a chance to represent the country in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) through the support of Intel Philippines.
